RATE BASICS

How gift card rates work in Nigeria

Understand the difference between a card’s face value, its NGN rate and the final amount in a buyer’s quote.

A rate is a price per dollar of card value

A gift card rate describes the naira offer per dollar of a specific card’s face value. Ask for the current quote for your exact card, including the final NGN amount after deductions.

Do not substitute the USD/NGN foreign-exchange rate. A gift card represents value tied to a specific product or retailer, and a buyer’s quote is for that card.

Why your final quote can differ

A buyer may quote differently depending on brand, issue country, card format, denomination and market conditions. A physical card with a purchase receipt may be assessed differently from a digital code. Ask how those factors affect your card rather than assuming one format always pays more.

Compare the final amount, not just the headline rate

Request the amount you would receive after any deductions. Ask whether the quoted rate applies to every card in your batch, and whether the offer has an expiry or verification condition.

  • Write down the brand, region, format and individual face values.
  • Ask for the final NGN total and any fees.
  • Confirm acceptance, verification and payment steps.
  • Keep the agreed quote and transaction terms for your records.

What the Rate Checker helps you do

The Rate Checker sends your chosen brand and value to a WhatsApp conversation. Our team confirms the quote there. The tool cannot validate a card, check a balance or promise acceptance.
