BEFORE YOU TRADE
A practical checklist before selling a gift card
What to confirm about the card, buyer and payment process before you agree to a gift card sale.
Describe what you actually have
Give the brand, country, currency, face value, delivery format and redemption status. If the card has been partly used or an attempted redemption returned an error, disclose that early. A clear description avoids a quote based on the wrong product.
Check who you are dealing with
Verify the buyer through contact details you obtained independently. A logo, a rate screenshot or a messaging profile alone does not establish who is behind an account. Read the transaction and dispute terms before proceeding.
Get the terms in writing
Ask for answers to these questions before sharing a redeemable code.
- Is this exact card accepted?
- What is the total NGN payment after deductions?
- What verification steps are required?
- When is payment expected, and what can delay it?
- What happens if verification fails or the trade is cancelled?
Keep the first message limited
You do not need to include a card PIN, redemption code, payment-card details, bank password or one-time passcode to ask for a rate. The Rate Checker only needs your brand and face value. Its WhatsApp draft includes those details and identifies this website.
Decide after the final quote
Compare the offer and process with the information you have. An initial discussion is not a guarantee of payment. If the terms are unclear, resolve them before committing the card.
Put the numbers in context
Calculate your gift card estimate, compare card rates or prepare a quote request.
